ball powders in 6BR?

I'm not a ball powder fan for the 6BR however if I were going to go that route I'd give AA2520 a go. Meters like water thru the powder measure and in my .223's I use the same powder charge as Varget to get the same results without having to weigh every charge.I'd start low and work up however.

I have been forced to use BL-C2 due to unreal powder shortages. The velocities for an equivalent amouint of Varget were slower, but accuracy was quite good.

It is a dirty powder though (Not as bad a 203B... that stuff is made from old tires I swear)

+1 for the aa2520. but, i have about a lb of h380 left over so i was curious to see how it would work. i am not a big fan of blc-2, due to it being so dirty. it is kind of like hs-6 in a pistol.

Cole, I have been trying to return your call, and to private message you - both to no avail.
Please either call, or, e-mail me: bibrob@netins.net. RG

I think the only basic issue with ball powders is that I think as a type they tend to be more temperature sensitive. That can be worked around. Just don't develop a max pressure load on a cold day, and then shoot it in a hot barrel on a hot day.

well, just got back from the range. started with 30.0 grains of h-380 and ended with 31.0 grains. the 31.0 grains showed no signs of pressure and had an average velocity of 2693 fps. accuracy at 200 was about 1 inch. will keep trying. i did shoot a .370 inch 5 shot group at 200 yards with the 107 sierra and 30.0 grains of varget, Wolf SRM, and 4th fired Lapua brass. This has been my go to load.
