Bald eagle still good..?

I am looking for a little better digital scale than my cheapo.. Reading for a bit the bald eagle some of you guys said was a good scale for the price... I am useing a 10/10 now but like to double check with the digital.... Or maybe if the scales is as accurate as the 10/10 I could use it especially for pistol to speed things up a bit... Any real world advise good or bad is great....

Boyd Allen I saw you were playing around with one awhile back..thoughts now??

I noticed bullets .com was closing , maybe I could pick one up...

Thanks in advance as always...

I adjusted mine to the highest sensitivity and made sure it was level. It is truly sensitive to one kernel of H4350. I am very happy with mine.

I found mine to be accurate, but drifts a lot. i used it in conjunction with a tuned Ohaus 10-0-5 beam scale when double weighing my match ammo loads. i found the best way was to have two pans, one on the Bald Eagle, that was re tared every time before dumping in to it the charge that came from my beam scale. this worked ok, but still got variations. however, when the deal on the A&D FX-120i became available, i jumped on that and replaced the Bald Eagle. the A&D showed me the variations i was getting were with the Bald Eagle, not the beam scale.

For the price is does quite well. It is not a 120 for sure.

I load with a Chargemaster 1500 and use my Parker tuned 10-10 to check the digital rather than the other way around. :)
LOL , you are correct , I trust my beam scale but I don't trust myself to set it up correctly , so I use my little digital scale to check myself... To make sure the settings are correct... Then I will check a few during the loading process to make sure the beam scale hasn't got off.... That and weighing cases and bullets is all I use the digital for , and wouldn't trust it over my beam scale...

It would be nice to have a trust worthy digital for loading pistol since I use a powder dropper for that.. For rifle I use a scoop and trickle up on the beam scale...

I don't shoot 1000 like alot of people here. There's no place around me to do it really... Most ranges are 300 around here and 90% of the people are shooting the 100 yard targets.. I shoot the longer ones because nobody is ever sitting at those benches and to me 100 is to close for a heavy barrel tactical rifle , there's really no challenge... I love to make my reloading better , so I am always looking for something to make it faster but only if that is safe..

I doubt I will ever spend $5000 on a custom rifle , most of the guys around here are just shooting their deer rifles and to them IF they can get MOA at 100 their happy , me not so much , some people are happy with what I would cry if I shot a group that large... Its just a 40 year hobby to me that I really enjoy.. There's always room for improvement..

Mine drifts a lot. Looking forward to Boyd’s reply too.

Once cold weather got here and the humidity dropped mine started drifting a lot too. If I watch it I can keep it zeroed but it is a pain and has slowed down my process. I'm hoping it gets back to normal with warm weather and higher humidity.

I throw on a chargemaster and check with the Bald Eagle

I have a Bald Eagle powder scale... It drifts... But over time, 2 minutes or more. I've worked out a system to get around that. I've noticed right after the calibration procedure, it is dead on (I have some laboratory calibration weights) What works for me is I weigh out my powder load, say 32 grains, right after calibration, and check it several times (so I know it's right on). I then zero (Tare) the scale. I put the empty pan on the scale and add that 32 grains of powder to the pan. This gives me the pan weight + the powder (for this example 2,000 gains)
I then put the empty pan on my RCBS Charge master. After the powder drop I move the pan to the Bald Eagle scale, PRESSING TARE !!! just before I put the pan on the scale. I then add or remove powder to get to my charge weight. 32 grains, but reading 2,000 grains with the pan weight. I do this every time I throw a charge.
It is repeatable and accurate to +/- 2/100's of a grain. Also I run the scale only on batteries, which last several loading days.

I have one I will sell you for $40/ shipped. I took the jump and upgraded to the A&D 120. It still performs very well, It's about 1.5 years old. I can send you pictures if interested. I have the orginal box.
