Bald eagle Sand Bag

Grimstod

Machinist, Designer, and Shooter.
With the sale on all the Bald Eagle rests I couldn't resist and got a front slingshot rest with wind age and a rear sand bag. I read the article here on sand options and could not find any Chromite so I went with a sand similar to the river bed sand but it was bery wet and clumpy. I put it in the oven to let it dry at 350deg for an hour and the sand shrank in size by about half yet retained about 3/4 of its original weight. When I filled my sand bag it weighed almost exactly the same amount that it should have weighed with the Cheomite. Has anyone els here ever tried cooking there sand?

Its called High Desert Sand. After re weighing it its just a few oz heavier then River Bed sand when its cooked. The grains are rather large though. Real pain in the nickers to get it in the bag. If I think I will go with the Chromite next time if anyone has it in stock.

Smart shooters know sand is heavier in the AM, then swells and gets lighter as the day wears on. But river bed sand is wet all the time.
