Bald Eagle or Protector Front Bag?

Jagermeister

I bought a slingshot style of the Bald Eagle shooting rest. My question is what is the best overall front bag for this rest? I ordered the u-shape front Bald Eagle and before I install it I need another opinion. The width on this slingshot for the front bag is 4.75 inches. Will a slightly wider bag like the Protektor work? I am going to stay with the u-shape bag for hunting rifles. Thanks.

The U-shaped bag pictured on Bullet Central is a poor design IMO. You want a front bag to minimize roll.....that bag will not do that. Call Protektor Model Co., tell them what type of stocks you want the bag to fit. They have been making bags to fit Bald Eagle rests for decades. They are not very far from the original Bald Eagle Precision manufacturing plant in Lock Haven, PA. They KNOW how to make quality (yet affordable) shooting bags. You won't be disappointed.

I agree the U bag from bald eagle is not so great I too am looking for a replacement...think I'll take LHSmith's advice.

I am using the Protektor bag with silver slick material but I neglected to check the width of the cradle before ordering the bag. I have had to modify the side clamps to accommodate for the excessive width. Packed with heavy sand not so as not to produce a bounce on firing I find the bag excellent. I also found the Protektor customer service very responsive to questions. A custom width Protektor is the best option I guess.
