Bags and rest

I am new to this sport and have a question re guarding bags and rest. I have noticed there is a very wide price range in rest and bags. rest from 40 to around 1k dollars. bags up to and around 500.What is the difference ? stated in MOA. Let me explain my question better, I know that a 1000 dollar rest is of better craftsmanship and material and will be less likely to break and leave you with out a rest. But how much better can you shoot off a 1000 or 800 dollar rest than a 40 dollar rest? I also understand the co ax rest is much easier to get on target and therefore faster but how much better is the group going to be? and why will the small rest not shoot as well will it not tighten down as much are they to light? what do you look for in a rest and bags front and rear? thanks in advance Buddy

Buddy,
I believe that you shoud buy the best that you can afford. You don't won't to buy cheap and then have to buy again later. That said you can get there without spending $1000. It is better to have weight and tight tolerence. You do not want it to move at all. The only advantage to a coax is speed. As you get better you will find speed is important. You can get off more shots before your wind condition changes.

thanks for the reply I can see how speed equals better group as wind changes relate to time or speed. also tight no slop might lend its self to better group what about weight ? joy stick vs windage knob vs fixed. pros and cons?

Buy used when you can find them for sale. Front rests often don't wear out. People trade up all the time. Rear bags do spring leaks. Repair with fishing line or dental floss.

I bought my Bald Eagle Cast Iron Sling Shot used and saved hundreds of $$$.

Being new here, I'm alil late on this as well as some other threads, but I find this C&J rest an exception value with windage top for under 350$ I believe. I pd like 290 something afew years back.
The only thing I modified on it, so I didn't have to pick it up to move it. I D&T next to the leveling screws and put heavy duty roller balls under it.
Sorry, not the best pic for full view.
