Badger

Darned badgers! They dig deep holes in our fields and make it hard on sprayers, tractors, and combines. I've often thought about buying a thermal scope for use at night - seldom see one of those critters out in daylight...

DD, I bet the .243 really put the 'whomp' on that boy!

My last badger was shot during a squirrel shoot with my Kimber 22LR conversion mounted on my .45 CDP frame with WW 40gr Power Point HP's aboard. I always have a belt pistol on me when out there for rats as you never know when one won't be able to resist coming up for a juicy fresh squirrel carcass.

Buddy Dan nailed this one last week when we were out shooting GS's. Went out at 1900 with his AR-equipped thermal rig.

Our landowner friend lets us know where all the badger dens are and tells us to 'shoot 'em all!'. We try to oblige. ;)

Been a few years. This one was trottin' through a prairie dog field I was on. Like someone rang the dinner bell. The other three I've shot either were to mangled to take pics of or made it back down there holes. The biggest was in that same p dog field a years or so later. I wanted that one for a mount but must've only hit him in the foot. He did the the Hokey Pokey, Thought I had a bead on his body and would pick him up later. Turns out I was looking at the exposed rock that his den home was under.

Combining wheat in high school I saw Dad run one over in the stubble with a loaded tandem. I was shocked to see it get up and ramble off. He must've found the smallest depression and flattened out. Tough Bugger's.
