Bad Rem 9 1/2 Primers?

I was trying to work up a load at the range today using Rem 9 1/2 primers.
Out of 32 rounds I had 17 duds. 17!
I also had the same brass and load using Federal primers with no problems at all.
I have a buddy that has ran into some bad 7 1/2's but I have never had any trouble with a primer until today.
It has got to be the primer, right?

How did the primer look after the first hit ????

Looked normal as far as I can see. The strike looked good.
What else could it be? I have had no problems at all until this time around.
