Bad Copper Fouling

Long story short. I bought a bargin priced AR-15, (Diamondback Firearms Florida) don't make that mistake again.
It came with a basic 16" carbon steel barrel, not chrome lined. Took it out last week shot about 100 rounds thru it. Came home scrubbed the daylights out of it. Took it back out with 19 rounds down the barrel and this was the first patch of sweets after 20mins.
Question: I can feel really rough spots as I push the patch. This is more thank likely bad areas in the barrel isn't it? And the copper is also confirming evidence?20161106_203951.jpg
Remember this is only 19 rounds!!! IMO this is horrible, am I wrong? My Windham Weaponry doesn't look this horrible even after 100 rounds.

While I agree that it looks like you have a copper fouling problem, keep in mind that a bronze bore brush can contribute to some of the blue when using copper fouling solvents. I'd suggest (if you haven't already done so) running a nylon bore brush through to get a better handle on just how much of the flue is from the copper fouling.
Next, rather than trying to guess what's in the bore, beg, borrow or buy a bore scope and have a look inside.

Yes this was applied with a nylon brush, I had a very good friend and gunsmith by the name of Bob Jourdan, whom had a borescope. Sadly he passed and I've yet to replace him with another friend that has one. :(
I'm scared to see the inside of any factory bore...while over at Bob's house one day, he showed me the inside of a savage barrel compared to a Hart barrel. After seeing my eyes grow big while looking at the Savage...he said, "makes you wonder how they shoot so well doesn't it?" Those were the good Ole days.

Let the targets tell you when to remove the copper... Chances are you won't find many if any rough barrels that will shoot well if they are scrubbed clean of copper.

I have had some barrels that looked brutal but yet shot quite well if they had about 15 rounds through them first and then the accuracy went away again at 40 or so rounds... the problem with that if you are using it for competition is obvious... if its merely a pleasure shooter then i say shoot it and enjoy it till it is done its servicable life.

If your nylon brush has a brass core you will still get a false positive.

David Tubb's Final Finish may help.

Why not try JB then let the Target tell ??
I have tried lapping compound and JB, scrubbed both tell my arms fell off, I'm actually typing this with my toes
After 15 or so shots it goes from a 1" 3 shot groups to about 4" 3 shot group.
And of course you can clean the copper out and start over and it does great till around 15 shots again.

Actually Bob passed a couple years ago. He has been inactive for several years. Pretty good Okie.

Bottom line is HOW does it shoot.
I have a winchester bolt rifle in 2223 and the Barrl i quite rough , But.... It shoots very very well fora factory rifle.
Try cleaning it with Iosso. That should take care of that copper, after a while it will slow down quite a Bit
