Back ordering a Sinclair comp rest from Brownells

I have bought and sold several Sinclair Competition rests over the years. Still have my original one with the windage pre-tensioner made by Travis at Field and Cave and more recently sold by @jepp2 . I would suggest periodically checking the brownell's website, as I have found the rest to be in stock before any notification of backorder was sent to my email.
I had a Randolph rest for years and used it to shoot Fclass, but I preferred using the Sinclair rest when I started shooting Benchrest.

A gentleman from the forum reached out with one for sale and I purchased that one. Brownells really didn’t give me a warm and fuzzy about back ordering one from them.

When Travis was closing down Field and Cave I purchased his aluminum plate, speed screw and wrench in anticipation of owning the Sinclair rest one day.

Thanks!

That was good planning, buy the windage tensioner from @jepp2 and you're set.

There's a guy on here that makes metal (brass I think) contact points for the windage gear to replace the nylon ones it came with.

Worth it if he's still offering them and a guy can figure out who it is

I feel like the windage tensioners are no longer available from @jepp2, I believe he sold the last few.

I didn’t know about the contact points so thanks for that!

The Sinclair Competitio Rest with Windage has not been available for several years. If you do a search on here for ir my post you should find my full explanation of this saga. Well I looked it does not tell all I learned. Outfit making them was sold as owner retired. New owner not interested. Insider at Brownrlls told me there appears to be no interest in persuing a new source. That was info I was given first hand about a year or so ago.
i got mine new from brownells last year. i just happned to log in when they were in stock as blems. wonder what the story is on that. i didnt check to see if it is China made. ill have to do that. anyway the rest works good for me.havent had a joy stick rest so dont know how that would be.

I thought he had small runs made as needed but could be wrong and wish I could remember who made the points but cannot.

I bought one about two years ago. I was checking the website almost every day to see if they were in stock. One day it actually let me order one. I had a gift certificate and a discount coupon, so I got it at a great price. I was lucky enough to grab one of the Field and Cave windage tensioners for it also, which was an incredible upgrade. I’m thinking about the new PMA rest, but I’m just not sure I want to switch from the Sinclair Competition one.
