B&L Scopechief 4-12X. Good scope?

A local shop has one of these for $150. Has AO, duplex crosshairs and hunting style turrets. Might be good glass for a pronghorn rig I’m planning to build. Were these quality scopes? My only experience with Bausch & Lomb is with the old Balvar series.

Probably as good as any other 150.00 scope. I have had several of these in past years, never rreally had problems. You do limit yourself a bit in clarity and brightness but can you kill game with them. Yes, in spite of what the glass snobs will tell you. Might cost you an animal at dawn or dusk but then again, you might get hit on the head from a falling tree walking in the woods.
Depending on what cartridge your using it should work, I would not use it on a rifle with heavier recoil, you know, magnums to kill a 100 lb speed goat.I would use that 150.00 or so to shop for a used Leupold. I would rather have a 300.00 dollar rifle with a 1000.00 scope than the other way around.

I had a B&L 1.5-6x40mm on one of my coyote rifles and the change in eye relief from lowest to highest was almost objectional luckily a shot most of the called coyotes on 1.5x. I also have a B&L 2.5-10x40 on one of my rifles and can't tell the difference between it and a Bushnell Elite 4200 in the same power range, in fact unless you read the writing on the scope you can't tell them apart. I think it would pretty much depend on the scope itself and how it works for you.

I have owned multiple Fullfields. They worked fine except they are dark. Compare at dawn with whatever else your interested in. Be sure you can see the crosshairs on a dark object at the beginning and end of shooting hours.
