Autotrickler V4 Calibration Issues With Latest Update

I have not used my Autotrickler in a year and this week I set it up to do some reloading. The first thing I did was installed Adam’s update and noticed a problem with calibration.

Every time I calibrated with H 4350 I was able to get the small tube in the green zone, but the big tube stays in the extreme red zone. No amount of tilting would move the pointer out of the extreme red zone. I tried reaching Adam, but he is on vacation until sometime in January, 2025.

I tried unplugging the Auto trickler over night and reinstalling the App too. Nothing helped. Has anyone seen this before and know what the issue is.

I was still able to thrown accurate loads without too many overthrows and load 100 rounds.

Here is Adam's response to me when I had a problem with the V4.

Thanks for reaching out. The top number is the large tube flow rate, which doesn't matter that much. But the lower number is the small tube flow rate and it's really important to get that as close to 0.20 GN/s (in the green) as possible to reduce overthrows. We recommend adjusting the feet on the scale to change the flow rate, but if you don't want this to change for your other profiles, you can use a shim like a business card to change the angle and then remove it when you aren't using H4895.

Thank you for posting Adam's response. I don't adjust the feet on my scale, but use the business card method for adjustment. I have several sizes made up.

I am some 1,400 miles from my V4 but my app settings are very close to what you show. I use the scale feet to adjust the flow as Adam shows in his video. I find it easier to fine tune the calibration rather than use shims or business cards. It is the small tube flow that matters most. .20 is ideal. To reduce the flow, (small tube flow is greater than .20), raise the front of the scale a small amount. To increase the flow lower the front of the scale a small amount. I watch the bubble level. A small change can make a big difference. With the powders I use most, including H4350, my accuracy is usually 96% or better +-.02 grain. Time per charge is roughly 10-12 seconds and the new charge is usually waiting for me after I have seated a bullet over the prior charge. I rarely need to dump a charge. Full disclosure, I accept a charge that is .04 over as that is but a single kernel of 4350 over the target weight. Hope this helps......

I'm not convinced taking the scale out of level is the best option. Most say they are adjusting flowrates by adjusting the feet. This changes the scale readings. I think you are better served tilting the tube angles.@ Just dreaming, makes an acrylic wind screen box and it has a nylon screw for adjusting the drop tube /hopper angles. This keeps the scale in level. Jmo
Why would all high grade scale/ balance manufacturers put levels on their scales?

That is exactly what A&D say for setting up their precision scales, scale MUST be level to ensure accurate weighing.
Any other adjustment should be made to the Autotrickler and not the scale.
I also have a choke on the power cord and let the unit warm up and stabilise for at least 2-4 hours. Nothing worse to find that the zero on the scale is changing slightly during a loading session and you have to keep readjusting for that.
You don’t want have a fluro light anywhere near the scale or any other power source that can broadcast electromagnetic interference. Use a magnetic field/EMF meter.

I have a Super Trickler with one of the balance scales. When I first got the Super Trickler I set it up was all excited. The scale was going nuts. Never had before (I used to use it trickled by hand) but the scale was on a different bench. After about 2 hours of trying to figure it out I noticed one of my Amateur radios in auto mode was transmitting off and on. That is when the scale was going nuts. Turned off my Rig (Transmitting Radio) and all my problems went away. These scales do not like RF at least mine does not like 60 watts 4 feet away from it. I bet a cell phone could do that, even on receive it sends a signal every once in a while to let the tower know its still in range.

I had this problem over the weekend. I had been traveling with my Autotrickler. The measuring unit had twisted and was not sitting flush on the little bumpers. Straightened it out and it calibrated normally.
