Autotrickler Bluetooth not connecting

Hi all,

Purchase a new V4 and have used it a few times no problem. Haven't used it for a few months and yesterday I went to use it and couldn't get it to connect. Deleted original and downloaded new app, multiple hard rests on both scales and phone. Downloaded app on tablet and still no joy.

Sent an email to Adam and haven't had a reply yet. Does anyone have any suggestions in the mean time as I have some ammo I need urgently!
 
You may need to use the little green jumper cable that comes with it. I had that happen on some of my scales. I'm not aware of any rhyme or reason why some scales need it, but the jumper should fix that if installed correctly. Instructions to install are in his manual.
 
One time I could not connect because the cable wires had become loose and disconnected. Re-tightened and problem went away.
 
Could also try disconnecting the AT from the scale (unplug the connector between the AT and the scale), wait several seconds and then re-connect. This worked for me the only time my phone wouldn't connect (couldn't see the AT).

Bluetooth and location have to be enabled on your phone. Don't know why.
Yep this was the issue! Had done all the above so thought I'd re read the manual since I only read it during initial setup. For most apps that require location permission once I select yes it will automatically turn on each time I open the app. I think what happened was the app did an auto update and the new version doesn't turn on my location settings automatically.

More to the point WTF does this app need to know our location for . . . .and does it still work if it can't get GPS signal?
 
I may be living in a cave...you need a phone app to run a scale or trickler ??
The scale is a standalone unit. The V4 trickler user interface is via an app loaded on an external device (smart phone/tablet). It is convenient, and lowers cost, but does expose the user to problems associated with Bluetooth connectivity and software operating systems interoperability. I wouldn’t be surprised to see a dedicated (non Bluetooth) interface offered in the near future.
 
As far as problems connecting, I've had the AT be really slow to (or refuse to) connect if you have other Bluetooth devices running concurrently. It seems to connect better if it's the sole device the phone sees. You can reconnect the other stuff later without issue (well, at least I can.)
