After Action Report: We had a nice turn-out for Father's Day, and some fathers were made proud. Zack Thomas, age 13, in his first match of any kind, running a 10-22 in Factory class, off a portable pipe-leg bench and a bag full of beans, shot himself into First Place in the Texas Junior ABRA rankings. Congratulations to Zack, and his Dad Keith who has done a fine job coaching him And let him shoot the good ammo. Good Call Keith. And damnfine shooting yourself in Factory. Dayton Granberry, age 9, shot extremely well in Unlimited Class with a brand-new gun and a Harris bipod knock-off. Kudos to his dad Ken for a fine job of raising this young man, and for shooting at a very state-wide competitive level in his first ABRA match, running in unlimited off sand bags, no front rest, and a factory stock. The wind was UP at daylight and remained 10-25 mph, gusty, with sudden lulls laden with eddy currents. Direction was largely 2-3-4 o'clock, with sudden switches to a headwind FROM `11:30. DA was 2000-2500. Hot sun. We cooked BBQ and ate good after, and everybody went home satisfied. Had an observer from the 6 PPC BR game whose skepticism as to the potential accuracy of the little semi-autos was cooled to the point he may build one. Many first time participants of considerable hunting skill discovered inadequate scope magnification, and will be back loaded for bear next month. Discipline was carefully followed by all participants, SAFETY FIRST, no exceptions. We are located in extreme NE Texas, 2 hrs E of Dallas, 1-1/2 hr from Shreveport, Tyler 1 hr 10 min.
