Australias first 600 yard Benchrest comp

Well on Sunday the 11th of May in Townsville the first official 600 yards Benchrest Match was shot.
Now i won`t go into all the scores etc as i wasnt there Someone else is sure to post them but my Mate John who some of you will remember Built a 7X47L on the new Lapua case and is shooting 130gr Match Kings in it well he shot a 2.7" group all in the TEN ring. Wasn`t the smallest group for the day and was shot with a light gun and he got 2X`s so 50-2X.
PAC-NOR Barrel 70 year old VZ24 Mauser Action and a hand made stock of laminated ply we made with router, Angle gringer, Planer and rasps and drills and two thickness of rubber Thong for recoil pad it does have a very good tinneny trigger.
Budget Benchrest. And yes we are looking at building an Aussie Action for it that will take some of the play and sloppiness out of it. Anyone got a good set of plans of an action we can work off would like a three lugger. The photo of John with the rifle is before the PAC-NOR stainless super Match grade barrel was fitted.
And people just hate it when they get beaten by a rough looking rifle hahaha

Second Official 600 yard Match is Sunday 25th March and i should be there this time. Yep thats tomorrow so better get my finger out its near on 300 miles from here.

Well I am back from my first ever 600 yard benchrest shoot and guess what. I got the best group of the shoot at 2.580" only came second in group aggregate as one of my groups blew out to 6" and third on Score aggregate but hey my little 30BR still has them worried for the big shoot in July.

G`Day Stephen good to hear from you and as to the website Ogre was refereing too not sure i only frequent this site and our Australian Hunting sight.
He may have been refereing to Benchrest Bulliten will ask him.
As to Barrell makers we have Tobler, Maddco, MAB, that i know of but i use PAC-Nor which reminds me should order a few while the Aussie Dollar is up.
Have just come home from Queensland Hunter-Class championships Fell behind at 100 yards only shooting 248.14 putting me in 8th place but held it together at 200 in some very tough conditions at 200 yards to come away with a win at 200 and win on Agg.
So my 30BR is still holding in there at short range as well.
