Good Afternoon,

Before I explain what this is, if you are a sling prone shooter you can stop reading. This doesn't really affect you in anyway and you won't see a difference other than maybe more people at matches, but if your curious and want to keep reading feel free :)

As some of you may have read there is a new competition for F-Class nationally that is based on points. Shooters get seeded based on their points, and then next June they have a bracketed double elimination competition where they compete in 3 15 shots matches pair fried. It is a very different form of shooting competition (more in line with how other sports work) and rather interesting. (Side note, it would be fun to see something like this for the sling shooters also, in the various disciplines) One of our own members Dan Pohlabel is on the board of directors for this.

One of the ways you get points is shooting qualifying matches. The matches must be long range (1000yd or palma) and be at least 85 rounds. Also the more ranked shooters that are there the more points, places they are worth. This is a simplified explanation and a more detailed explanation can be found here.

In order to work with this we are going to be making a slight change to our schedules. From now on our end of the month long range weekends (3x1000 Saturday and Palma Sundays) will now be an F-Class weekend aggregate match. This allows them to be qualifying matches and work for the F-Class Point series competition. For the sling shooter this doesn't change anything, and if you are an F-Class shooter and just want to shoot a single day that is fine. Shooting a single day doesn't put you in a hole so it makes it impossible for you to ever get points. You will still register for both days separately, unless it is something like our Regional and State match where both sides (sling and F-Class) are having a 2 day match. Also since the point value depends on which shooters are shooting when you register for any match now you will be able to see who is coming. If you go to the link above you will see the database of the shooters. In order to get points you have to shoot both days. If you go through the list you will see we have many shooters who are in the Top 100 that are club members or regularly shoot our long range matches, thus making our matches worth points.

The schedule for the remaining "Point Matches" is as follows

August 29/30- 3x1000 Sat, Palma Sunday
September 26/27- IN/KY State Long Range Match
Saturday- 3x1000 F-Open and F-T/R
Sunday- 2x1000 F-Open, Palma F-T/R
October 24/25th Phil's Weekend
Saturday- 3x1000
Sunday- Palma (3x600 after Palma DOES NOT COUNT)

If you have any questions please ask me. If I don't know the answer I can point you to people that do. Or if you go on accurate shooter thread I'm sure you can find your answers there
Thanks and see you on the range,

Shawn
