Attaching Pictures

How do I attach pictures to a reply. I can't find where to attach them to my responses or email.Thanks Jim

At the top of each Forum is a pinned instruction post "How to Post Photos":

Also, at the right side of the Forum is a big Button that says "How to Post Photos". This takes you to a page that explains both how to attach photos and how to upload to a third-party host and then place the URL in the message.

For Attachments, in a nutshell, click "Manage Attachments" in the lower left corner of the Posting window, and then navigate to an image stored on your hard drive, and click "Upload". It's that simple:

I can't seem to upload pictures anymore.
I can still see pictures I previously uploaded.

Nope.
It say wait while it is uploading.
Then it says done.
But no pic.

Here is a test.

The server has been slow today, but this 29kb photo uploaded just fine.

Please note that photos must be under 150kb in size. Please keep dimensions under 800 pixels wide.

That one looks like it will go.

If that is 300 x 270 and is 29kb
Then 150 kb should be the square root[[150/29][300][270]]= 647 x 647



I see now that my pics will not load, because their titles were too long.

I shortened the titles, and now they load.

File size is a function of both the dimensions,in pixels) and the 'quality'. So, you could have an 800x600 jpeg picture that is 40kb or 4000kb, depending on the quality.

If you're saving as a JPEG, generally if you select a quality level of 4 out of 5, or 85 out of 100 that gives good photo quality and reasonable file size.

FWIW, nearly all the photos used on this weeksite, even the big stories are under 100kb. The image below, for example is 58kb, so you can see you don't need a huge file size to have a good photo:
