ATN X-Sight Feedback please

Hey guys. Looking for some help/user experience. I have been looking for a lower end NV "optic." I realize this particular model has a digital sensor but the feedback I have seen is all over the board. If I have reasonable expectations and limit the NV to 100 yards they look like they might do the trick. I can always add an upgraded illuminator. I would likely go with the 3x12 vs the 5x18. I also see that ATN has a newer version (x-sight II) coming out but have only seen the MSRP for them on their site. The enhancements seem to be focused on more software options and a higher end sensor, a lot of which I'm not sure I need.

So how do they work? Should I price shop for close outs on the older model or wait on the newer 4x14 version?

Thanks,

Ed

Had a friend get one and played with his some. They have some funny quirks, biggest being that if your holding on a target and move the scope it takes an instant for the view to change due to the digital pressing. They are hard on batteries, but if your going to use it a lot rechargeables are the way to go. They are about the price of gen 1 rifle scopes, and they are better than gen 1 in my opinion. I personally use gen 3 plus gogles and an IR laser on the rifle, but cost that way is about for new gear is 5 to 6 time the ditigal scope. Good IR lites are not to expensive and the digital scope are good to the range of your rifle with one. Without an IR you can still get a couple 100 yards on a moon lit nite. In the dark of the moon ???? not near that far. For the price not a bad intro to nite vision hunting.

Thanks for info. I'm going to try and find out more details on the x-sight hd II . Looks like they are priced as a replacement for the original, at least based on MSRP.
