some of you guys may like this, other may hate it. I am not sure how guys feel about sporterized rifles. I just picked up the gun today and it came with the old newspaper clipping.
If anyone has any info on these builders or their guns/history I'd sure like to hear about it! They were in Prescott AZ which is where I live.
sporterized 6.5-06
I don't really know anything about the surplus sporter rifles, but my great grandfather was a gunsmith in the 50-80s and specialized in custom rifles just like the one I have pictured. I am going through smithing school now and will specialize in custom match and hunting rifles. the lathe pictured is mine
editing to add-
I was kind of clueless on what action was used on this rifle. I ended up finding a picture of it in a 1989 copy of "modern guns identification and value". its got a few distinguishing features most notable the bolt stop (?) bolt release lever (?) reads "ON". the action is a Springfield Sedgley. prices vary wildly on a few of the more obscure auction sites. nothing on GB which is kinda of unusual. excellent condition price for a factory Sedley in 89 was $525.00. That makes me a millionare in todays dollars.
