Athlon neos, Talos, vs mueller

i am after a 18x or possibly a 24x variable scope, had a few in mind, the mueller 6x18 or the athlons neaos or talos in 6x18 or 6 x24, has anyone ever compared these scopes i have in mind, i mainly shoot 50yds 22 rimfire. i do have a new weaver t 36 still in the box, but don't want to use it on my 22rimfire rifle

This is worth what you paid for it....started shooting 22lr br 50 yard about 1-1/2 years ago. Built a Kidd 10/22. With a Mueller scope, I have shot 250 scores with 16-20 X's. And that's with a cheap frt rest and hand on bag rear. I'm sure if I was more serious about it than I am, I would upgrade , but we are all older, 50's 60's, and it's more social than cut throat....have since sold the KIDD, and now shoot a box stock synthetic Ruger 10/22 with the Mueller....no 250's, but I can manage 235 average....not earth shaking, but a challenge. If the scope has the power, acceptable optics, then go with it......to easy to forget to have fun...rsb

The Mueller scope will probably have a thick/heavy recticle, I would look at the Athlon Talos for under $200. I have 2, and the recticle should be thin enough for some precision shooting.

Why don't you want to put the 36x on the RF??

My bad, I have the Talos 6-24x50, with the illuminated recticle on a CF 22/250. Works well for paper and hopefully some pdogs next year. I have a 4x16 Talos on a 17hmr and it works well for paper and small varmints/critters.

Both have fine cross hairs and would probably be suitable for RF, but the recticles are a bit busy for that purpose IMO.

Are you shooting RF benchrest (ARA or ABRA, etc ), or just groups at the range? The Weaver 36x is a good scope for RF at 50 yds, simple cross hairs, with or with out the dot.
