Decades ago?Since they're made in CHINA, try Hong Kong Lookie Long
Remember, "you get what you pay for".
I made that mistake decades ago, and trying to save others from the same heartburn.
Yes Decades. About 20 years or more to be exact. Bought a Sightmark 10-40x56. Blurry glass and reticle adjustments literally came of the tracks at end of travel trying to sight in. Thought it was a bargain at $350. Turned out to be an expensive door stop. Item discontinued shortly thereafter.Decades ago?
Things have changed pretty drastically in those 20 years. Athlon makes a solid product from what i can tell so far. I have 3 of them now. Their customer service is a woman located in a very busy office/wharehouse here in the us (dont remember state) they source materials from all over just like every single other optic manufacturer. I havent had a failure but did inquire about purchasing the new style throw lever and she quickly said let me send you 3 of the new style under our lifetime warrenty and quickly took down my shipping info. Dont hate if you dont have any experience with the company or product.Yes Decades. About 20 years or more to be exact. Bought a Sightmark 10-40x56. No "country of origin" on box. After looking a long time, found a clear plastic sticker with black lettering "Made in China" stuck in the black tube. Obvious attempt to conceal.
Why are some of you trying to stick up for garbage that ends up paying for a new Chinese warship????
i had a more entry level athlon (was still nice though) prob 6-7 years ago, came on an air rifle I bought (used on a forum). Not long after I had it the reticle would cant when I moved the magnification ring.Things have changed pretty drastically in those 20 years. Athlon makes a solid product from what i can tell so far. Most likely, a lot of things you purchase, are paying for another countries "war ship", or simply boosting their economy. Name one optic made solely in the United States. You won't, because they all get some or all of their parts from other countries. Glass comes from Germany, Japan, or China. The erector assemblies come primarily from Japan, China, or the Philippines. The tubes come from all over the world. I can think of 2 major brands, that everyone and their brother, including myself, use and like. They both say made in the USA, and it's total bullshit, they should say, assembled in the USA. I have to say, at least Athlon is honest about where they're made, and they have customer service and a warehouse in Kansas, and they typically don't even ask any questions, if you have any issues, they replace, instead of repairing, typically getting your optic problem resolved, in under a week. I wish I could say that, for the top tier brands, unfortunately, they can take months to resolve your problem. Some people would say, well they don't have as many problems, however, I've seen many of the A list Rockstar 2.5-5.5k$ optics fail just the same as the 500-1500$ ones.Yes Decades. As far as I know and Athlon's website confirms this, the Ares 15-60 is only offered in floating dot with moa holdover hashes. The Heras is almost the same reticle but connected crosshairs with moa holdover hashes. Both are great scopes. An update here…… I have been trying to find out if I can get the reticle that I want in the Ares 15x60. Lots of conflicting information out there but answers are fairly scarce. Thanks for your replies so far.
