Athlon argos btr or other FFP scope

I am currently wish rich and money poor. I have just started shooting 1000yd f class(for fun and skill growth) and while it has been possible with my Nikon M\onarch 4-14 I believe it might be a bit easier with a few more x's on the magnification. I am also putting together a different rifle for more of a precision rifle type thing. So my question is does anyone have any experience with this particular scope and how do you think its reticle would do at a f class target? Far to big or not, I have never been able to discern the 10 from the 9 or the 8 ring with my current scope, I just aim for the middle LOL
Now secondly if you have any opinion on it as far as for a precision/tactical type rifle, i have read lots of good things on it in this role. My terrible plan is for one scope to do double duty while funds acrue for another thanks much

I purchased two. I have not tested them yet but they are mounted on a custom rem 700 in .243 and custom rem 700 in .260. First impression is that they are awesome clarity wise, clicks are positive (after I cleaned excess grease off the O-rings), the magnification ring on both are smooth and a little bit of resistance but not too much. Ive never had a FFP scope before so this is a first for me so I cant compare it to anything else in that realm. Below is a thread I started since I was concerned about toughness and ability to crank out multiple firing solutions. I got mine MOA/MOA BTW.

Got good feedback on there about glass clarity/quality and one solid report on tracking/toughness. I will do a box test as soon as I get time and that will seal the deal for me.

It would be better than your Nikon, but not as good as you can do for the money. I have a BTR and it is a decent scope but the ffp reticle will become a bit large at high mags. For targets such as Fclass you can find a used Weaver T36 or T24 for comparable or less cost, and have a much better application. Pick the power based on how much mirage you are likely to encounter.

Best to stick with a variable scope for long range targets. Using a high fixed power in bad conditions and you'll be looking through a cloud. The T36s can be horrible at 100 yards on a day when mirage is bad.

I was wondering about that, would you care to elaborate on a bit large? Will the center cross hair completely cover the x ring? would any of a soda can be visable @1000yd

Here's the cross hairs at 1.5 miles for reference. This is the Argos BTR in MIL/MIL. This photo is from an Athlon dealer on this forum. Nice guy.

Shawn I'm afraid I don't have that level of specificity to provide. To me much of your decision depends on what percent of shooting will be F vs other. The Athlon is better suited suited for F than the Weaver T is for field use, so do you focus on multi use vs target shooting.
