Athlon ARES ETR

Currently have an Argos BTR 10-40x56 and have looked at the Ares ETR 15-60 and find many places have them listed as Disco'd so I surfed on over to Athlon's website and now see listed a new GEN2 along with the original. Again first off I cannot find any info on the new GEN2 and their website doesn't offer much info as to what has been upgraded. I've tried a general web surf and even a youtube search, Nothing! Anyone with any info or links?

E-mail them and ask them when they went into production and are they in stores now or not, and are they labelled as Gen2, and/or how to ID a Gen 2, so the blinder type folks in the store can ID them. And I would probably not expect them to be on sale, if they are fairly new.

Just searched through the online retailers listed and none have the GEN2 yet. Camerland has it listed and is taking preorders. Still no more info other tan what is posted on Athlons site.

I did find some talk in Athlon Facebook page. Seems they made changes to the turrets. Shorter and locking windage.

I contacted Athlon about the Gen 2 last year, they said they might show up LAST summer.
Don't hold your breathe this has been in the rumor mill for a long time.
If you want one just buy one. I have a Gen 1 for a rimfire and works great for it.

I've been an Athlon dealer for almost as long as they've been in business, and it took me quite a long time to get the Ares ETR 15-60x56 that I put on my Vudoo V22S last fall. This is the 1st I've heard of a Gen 2 version, but mine has a locking windage turret, so...?

Just received an email from Athlon on Monday having been in contact with then in regards to my replacement. I also inquired as to the Ares and they are hoping if all goes as planned for a release the end of March beginning of April.

Also see now a new Argos BTR GEN3!

Again just on their website and find a discrepancy, in the the Website description shows the GEN2 as a 30mm tube and not a 34.

From what I am seeing with the new GEN scope I may be looking at an upgrade from the Argos..

Yeah I saw conflicting info on the 15-60 as well. I guess we will find out eventually.

I would say the Ares gen2 15-60 is in stock.Talking to Doug at Cameraland about the "Ares Gen 2" I almost had the 15-60 do to the Ares name/line confusion per phone call,he said he could have one drop shipped from Athlon ,100 miles away.
I wanted the new Ares G2 4.5-30x56 for grandsons ELR22, NRL22 build ,which I ordered from Doug last Friday, recieved the 4.5-30 the following Monday,Glass on the Ares 4.5-30, at 300 yd and 700 yd plates on par with with my Crounus and Zeiss S3.Barely bested by a Nx8 4-32 in glass. At 50 yds I like the Ares.Retical is tad heavier than Crounus.Turrents and shorter and wider.Ares is the longest of all four. In the box,a sunshade, throw lever and metal, screw on flip caps.Hell of a great value so far, I leave all four on a bench all day looking out at my range,25 yds to 700yds.Scopes look different through out the day.

Anyone shoot the Gen 2 Ares 15-60 yet? Only dislike I have of my Gen 1 is the Paralax is super sensitive and find myself constantly adjusting it. Wondering if they made changes to Gen 2.
