Aternate powder for the 7mm Shehane

As the title says, I'm looking for alternate powders to use in my new 7mm Shehane other than H-4831sc pushing 180 JLK bullets in a 1-9 twist Brux? The cooler the powder, the better. Also, has anyone had good results with any of the new IMR Enduron powders? Any advice would be appreciated.
Thanks,
Lloyd

In my 284 WIN, I couldn't get 4831sc so I tried RL-17 which I stock for some other calibers. I was shooting both 180 hybrids as well as 162 A-MAX. Both shot better with RL-17. You get a bit more velocity if you want and with less pressure. And, it burns 100% so it's clean.
Only negative is it is temp sensitive. I think hot weather is usually not a problem in Switzerland!! It is O.K. up to about 80 deg. I have used it enough that I regularly carry my ammo in an insulated bag to the range and only take it out when my relay starts. No problem then.

Hey Lloyd.. You can try UP TO 53.0grs of H4350. GREAT e.s.'s and excellent accuracy. The accuracy "load window" is from 51.5 to 52.7.. Another excellent powder is IMR 7828SSC.. You literally can use the same load data as H4831SC using 0.5grs more. You will also have the benefit of some additional velocity with the 7828SSC.. If you want to give it a shot, VV N165 would also be another excellent powder. My best GUESS would be UP TO 58.0grs with it..

By the way, RL-17 seems to work better with close to max loads!

A few years ago I tried it in my 243 WIN BR gun (before I learned about 6BR and 6BRX!) as an alternative to H1000 and it did not work. I was loading down to about 2900 fps and it wasn't a high enough pressure for it to perform well.

I have a 7mm Walker (same as a Shehane but with a 40degree shoulder). Previously used H4831SC, but after I ran out I tried: (a) H4350, could never get it to shoot in two different barrels, but others have great success with it, (b) IMR-7828SSC, more accurate than H4831SC but temperature sensitive, and (c) regular H4831, which so far hits the sweet spot. Very accurate, and I use the exact same load between two different barrels right now. The second barrel, I didn't even work up a load, I just used the ammo from the first barrel for a backup and it surprisingly shot great at 1000. I won't be going back to H4831SC even if I can get some more.

another vote for rl17 but vit 165 was very accurate too and not much in it fps , vit 165 was a full case too with no pressure

N165 has one of the lowest flame temps listed in QuikLoad. Only downside is it's available only in 1lb jars, and it's expensive.

I tried H4831SC in my standard 284s, and found that I got higher velocity & better accuracy with plain old H4831.

I have 2 Shehane barrels that like H 4831sc. One that loves H1000 and a friend who has kicked my but with Norma MRP in a Walker. If the usual H4831sc and H4350 don't work, try the secondary powders and you may be pleasantly surprised.
