Assistance for proper rings height?

Hello,

I am new to precision shooting, just purchased a scope from Sightron 8-31X56 that I’ll be using on a Savage Ashbury Precision .308 rifle. The rifle comes with a zero moa base. Looking to purchase Seekins Precision 30mm picatinny style rings, however, the barrel is protected by a handguard and it doesnt allow me the opportunity to take the right measurements. I don't want to order the wrong set of rings so I need help. Suggestions? I attached a picture

Isn't the issue that you don't want the scope touching the handguard? You'll need rings high enough so that the scope bell clears whatever is closest to it,

Correct, I need the rings to clear whatever is closes to~ Selecting the ring you have low, medium, high, extra high etc...

Just measure as if your hand guard was the barrel . If you have a 56 objective , your PROBABLY going to need see thru rings !
You need to know the outside dimension of your objective bell , the height of you base above the hand guard ( easy one ) then have at least .075 clearance between the objective and guard . I say that .075 cause as you increase your moa base the front of your scope is getting nearer your barrel and the ocular (rear of scope ) is increasing its distance from bore centerline . Of course it should be ok with a 15-18" long scope if any longer the math is beyond my capabilities without actually holding it .

Plus you need to determine where your hand is going to hold the for end and how long your fingers are . You don't want them touching the scope at all

Well, with a straight line from the base to the hand guard, 56mm ÷ 2 will give you the minimum height to center of rings. 28mm is just about 1-1/8". Subtract half of tube diameter to determine the "Leupold style" measurement to bottom of ring saddle.
