Artillery Hold - Modification?

I've been playing around with the artillery hold on my break-action pellet rifle this summer. Positioning my left hand to rest the stock forearm on it is not comfortable, so I've been thinking - has anyone tried making a forearm grip that would mount to the stock forearm, but could slide on a bearing system, like a drawer track/slide? One part of the track would mount to the rifle, and the other part of the track would be mounted to something you could actually get a grip on, or a bag rider of sorts. It might sound crazy, but I like to tinker and thought maybe I'd give it a go if you all think there may be some merit to the idea.
