Artical in the bulletin, "To coat or Not"

The article in today's Bulletin regarding the coating of bullets got me to wondering if there was any NEW data to prove coating was weather it was beneficial or not.
From what I've read "Moly" has it's draw backs in hot humid areas because Moly loves H2O and will form a hard crud in the Bbl. However, talking with my FFL/gun smith , he used moly coated bullets and goes over 100 shots before cleaning hos 6.5 x 47L "F class" rifle.

Getting over 100 shots before cleaning isn’t hard for an F Class rifle. The biggest issue is carbon hardening up if you wait a while for the next match a few weeks a month.

I have been using moly for years, but for an entirely different reason. I clean my brass with an ultrasonic cleaner, and it removes all the carbon from the necks. Moly allows me to be very precise with my seating pressure. For me, what it does in the bore is just a welcome side effect. I'm also a stickler about running several wet patches of C4 down the bore ASAP after shooting for the day, so the carbon fouling doesn't have a chance to get hard.
I hope this helps,

Lloyd
