Ar's an 75gr

wonder if it is 'safe' to load 75gr hornady bullets in a .223 to fit in the Ar-mag.
using either varget or W748

any coments thanks

Contact Hornady, they publish a service rifle pamphlet , usually handed out at Camp Perry, for the AR, they list both 748 & Vagret, along with 9 other powders used to load their 75 BTHP. They say the 75 AMAX is for single shot loading ONLY

The 75gr HPBT, yes. The 75gr A-Max, no. The ogive is too long and seats below the neck.

BINGO!

To add: I found TAC to be a great performer with the 75BTHP / .223

Varget or RL-15 or TAC work great. W748 "could" work but is really too fast and better suited to the 45-60 gr range.

One of my favorites in 23.5 gr Varget, CCI-BR2, and LC brass under a Nosler 77, Hornady 75 HPBT, or 77 SMK, all loaded to mag length. Seems to shoot great in every AR with 1/8 twist or faster I have seen.

got around to load 10 77gr.s sierra, varget 23.5, 7 1/2 to fit the mag. will try next time out
a friend past by today an left me some 69gr sierra's so i'l load them as well.. will see ;)
thanks
