Arken vs. Zeiss

Arkens are awfully good, I have several. The EP 5 is a beauty, also heavy. The SH4 is also heavy. I've a bunch of EPL4 6-24's which are just a really sweet thing. And a 30mm tube which allows Burris Signature rings, which I have. Out of curiosity I bought a Zeiss V4 6-24, mainly because of the SFP reticle and it being on sale. Comparing the two: Won't go into all the different things around here at varied distances, 100yds to 1-1/2miles, that I check. But the two scopes were - to my eyes - dead even optically. However the Zeiss eyebox was disturbingly tight compared to the Arken.....so much so that I just didn't like the scope and sent it back. Also note that the Zeiss costs about 3x what the Arken costs. The Arken is just very good. i have 6 of them now and bought each one, I'm not a shill. Hope this helps someone who may be curious or undecided.

That's why they make different brands. I like both my Zeiss and March for hunting and competition.

Purchased my first Arken EP-5 5 X 25 X 56 last year due to a friend of mine recommendations. I owned 8 Leupold 8 X 25 X 50 LPRs at that time. I sold off all 8 and replaced them with the EP-5. Recently purchased the NEW SH4-J (J = Japanese Glass) 6 X 24 X 50 for a hunting rifle. Probably wont ever purchased another brand.

Another fan of the 6-24x50
I have two of them on 22-250s and they aren’t going anywhere. So far they are holding zero and tracking perfectly.

How do you like the new sh4-j? I have the Arken EPL4 6-24x50 and I dont have any complaints. I only purchased it over the gen 2 sh4 because I wanted Japanese glass.

I really like it. I put it on my Rem M-7 30BR Hunter and zeroed @ 100 yds. and plan to hunt with it this season in the swamp behind my house so I will probably have the power turned down fairly low for close range. Glass seems to be equal to the EP-5.
