Are you annealing brass for Dasher?

10-4. Thanks for the replies. Will fire up the Benchsource tom night.

Same process as other calibers? Aim one flame at case neck and one little lower at the neck/shoulder junction?

I only see the need for one torch, pointed at the shoulder neck area. I can keep the flame better regulated with one and it seems to make them more even in neck tension……… jim

Fired forming load, 2 Dasher loads, annealed after that. Now I'm using Wilson neck dies, so that timing may change it a bit. Not sure how may neck sizings I'll get before I need to FL resize, probably anneal then too.

any tips to anneal this "small" case. I just tried to adjust my BS annealer and couldn't get it dialed in. So I stopped before I messed up my match brass. I was using trash brass to get it set up

Cases were getting too hot by the time it traveled down shoulder. I never had this trouble with my 308 brass. It was easy to set up for that caliber

I feel bench source anneal machine with the tips they recommend lays the bottles too flat . When that happens some of the time your getting liquid and other is a gas. I got two hoses now I can stand the bottles vertical. the torches now can be adjuster where the work off of gas not liquid. Going to try a propane bottle.

I use a hose so there is less weight hanging from the torch head, also i drilled a hole in the bench and i hang the bottle from it, the hose kit came with a hanger. Gas bottle last me all year or almost a year with one torch. I milled out one part of the torch holders it holds a true 90 degrees and use spacers to set the hight so it is repeatable. My plate never even gets warm, because you can't tilt it down. So the fan is a waste of money…………. jim

I'm building my own annealer and found a hose kit at Lowes for about $14. Much better than hanging the bottle.

Looked like this (minus the gas bottle)

And I fully agree with Jim. One flame is much easier to adjust tha getting two in just the right place and a beginner will have a larger window of time for correctly annealing without over heating. Remembering the heat goes both up and down the case, I believe I can put my one flame on the shoulder and anneal the shoulder and neck correctly as the neck is thinner than the shoulder.
