Are 155gr lapua Scenars better than Fed match 168 at 100-200 yds 1:12 bb twist?

Just wondering if the 155gr lapua Scenars shoot better at 100-200 yds than the Fedmatch 168gr. Until I can start reloading and experimenting-I will need to shoot some factory loaded ammo. What about black Hills?I have a Rem 700 w/1:12 twist 20" bbl.

Black Hills is good stuff.

155 gr. Sierra MK (Palma) should be worth a try. We are using it out 600 yards sub MOA and many use it out to 1000.

Abaolutely no way to know what your particular rifle is going to like until you try it.

I realize every gun has it's own preference, because of tollerances,etc. I was just trying to get a general idea from others, that have had shot both and have the same bbl twist I have VS the 1:10 twist.

Ok then. Be hard pressed to find a more consistenly accurate mass produced bullet at those distances than the 168mk. My 1-12 krieger likes both the 168 and 175 mk but the 168 wina out for sheer accuracy. My main load is a 155 scenar but it will not beat the mk for accuracy until 600yds.

Depends on the rifle. I started on a factory 700P, and I was unable to get 155 Scenars to group at all (1.5" and larger). I tried everything, no joy. I attributed this to the long factory throat, so long that I couldn't seat the Scenars within 0.100" of the lands and have the bullets in the case. The Scenars are VLD design and for me they didn't like jumping.

The SMK ogive design is much more jump-friendly.

Thanks for the info. I appreciate the feed back. I will try (1) box of the 155Scenars. Otherwise I will continue to accumulate a few/several boxes of the Federal Match 168's, and maybe a Box or two Of Black Hills 168gr.

You can always spin them faster. Usually there are no down sides.

I run the Lapua 155 grain Scenars out of a 1 in 11.25 twist barrel. They are VERY accurate and way better than the 168 grain SMK. I am pushing them at about 2,900 FPS out of a 24 inch barrel. Good ballistics out to 900 meters also.
