ARA rimfire build optics question

I used to compete in So Cal rimfire BR with a 40x built by Hongisto.

Having my bucket list rimfire BR rifle built.

There are no rimfire BR comps where I currently live, so I am out of touch with current optics. I compete against myself at my home range.

Currently use 36x Leupold and Sightrons. Which I am very happy with, but would like to try a bit higher magnification optic on this new build.

Debating on one of the new Weaver 46x XR, a Nightforce 42x or one of the vortex golden eagles.

Any advice?

Thanks

Any preference between the fixed 42x vs the variable comp model for rimfire?

Very happy with the NF comp 15-55 on my centerfire rig. But thought a bit much for rimfire.

A March 48 power HM and it goes down to 50 ft. if you want to shoot indoors. If it is too pricey a 45 power Sightron with ED glass is an other good one and it also goes down to 50FT...... jim

Will check out March also.

Any idea how it compares to the Leupold 45x or Nightforce 42x?

Bucket list build, so no budget.

Thanks.

I bought a new March 40-60 High Master EPZ for my rimfire rig. Shot 3 matches with it and switched back to my NF Comp 15-55. I have the NF Comp fixed 42x on another gun that is very nice as well. I'm not saying March is bad, just that for my eyes, NF outperformed. My issue was I knew nobody who had a March to compare to my NF's, so I had to take the leap based of their reputation. On the plus side, I did have to deal with the March customer service due to a cosmetic blemish on my new scope and they were spectacular folks.

I put a bulls eye " bullz eye" I think is the marketing name.
It gives my 36x weaver up around 40 ... I'm very happy with it. I can't go more than a 350-500 $ scope for 22. Just doesn't give any advantage imo.
However, I have a nf comp 15-55x on my center fire. A 2500.oo scope.

I’ve used the Weaver 36x, Sightron 36x, Leupold 40 & 45x and the NF 42x.
I definitely prefer the higher magnification scopes and have been happy with both Leupold and NF. As mentioned above used Leupold 45x’s can be found around $700-800 range.

I also used to compete in Rimfire, but decided to go strictly with Centerfire rifles. I used a 35x Leupold atop my Anschutz BR but sold the rifle and bought a Vortex Golden Eagle from Vortex. Man are they FANTASTIC for the price and you can see much better than the Leopold or similar 35/36X's around, no matter the make. BTW, Vortex offers a significant reduction in price (30% I think) if you are a Veteran of the Armed Services, current or past. Just go to their website and scroll down to the bottom of the page that has an icon for Veteran Discounts. Then follow their instructions and make the call to certify to be eligible for that discount. I saved a bundle and love that Golden Eagle. Might not be a Nightforce, but then I didn't have to spend $3000+ to better see the target. And I'm 72 yrs old.

BTW, Rimfire competitions are held in Riverside, CA if you are in SO Cal. I'm quite happy and glad I bought that Golden Eagle and have found many guys who compete, even seriously, have found the Golden Eagle fits their needs and their wallets.

Shynloco, if you shot rimfire BR in Riverside between the years of 00 and 06. I have likely met you then. Shot rimfire br while at Loma Linda Univ. Strated with an Anschutz mpr then to a 40x.
