AR15 w/Suppressor

A friend of mine got a suppressor for his AR15 and shot subsonic ammo in it. The gun won't cycle with the subsonic ammo and
I'm guessing that it isn't getting enough gas to do that. Could someone please direct me to a website that has the proper info to

solve this problem because I have no idea where to start and I realize that this site is about bolt rifles. Thanks in advance.

A good adjustable gas block and a lighter buffer tube spring. I used a JP enterprise adjustable gas block on my AR.

Subsonic 223? Not advisable, 300 BO is better for this.

Things that help low pressure ammo cycle, generally speaking:
Larger gas port
Lighter buffer
Lighter spring
Low mass BCG
High back pressure suppressor (traditional baffle stack)

If he tunes his gun to run 223 subs it will beat itself to death with supersonic 223 or 556 without an adjustable gas block to choke down the gas.

What Woollybugger said.

An adjustable gas block / larger port might help. But I still wouldn't trust my life to that system

Id really recommend he get a 22 rim fire AR15. Just a fun gun to shoot.

Some of these guys are pretty sharp, but will ask you for some basic information, like what cartridge the rifle is chambered in, what length gas system, if the ammo was actually designed to cycle a gas operated system. The some particulars about how the rifle is put together.

Best option is just shoot standard pressure through your suppressor and not bother with subs for a 5.56 / .223 in the first place.
Get a 300 BLK upper and go to work build your subs for that as its designed for the job…just my 2c
Ps..you will need another suppressor for 300BLK..but ya probably knew that.

An adjustable gas block will not help anything if it already not getting enough gas. If it does not have a pistol length gas port location you will be in for a lot more mods to get it to work if it is a 223. First thing is to check port size. It needs to be at least 0.100" or larger.
