AR15 Piston Kits -- Video

Why do some guys love them and other guys hate them???

Really baffles me why the hate on AR15 piston kits???

Some folks just love, "NEW AND IMPROVED"

Others are diehard, "IF IT AIN'T BROKE, DON'T FIX IT".

That about covers it.

Both have advantages and disadvantages. Take your pick.

Copy that.

I don't see it here as much as other gun talk forums.

The piston just makes more sense versus dumping all that gas back into the receiver, especially when shooting suppressed.

Most piston systems have the piston and its moving parts out on the barrel. This can create accuracy problems. I moved the piston back and attached it to the upper using a gas tube. Works fine. Everything mechanical has pluses and minuses to work through.

I dont see too many life or death reliable AR rifles with pistons. Dont see any of the uber accurate AR rifles with pistons either. That may be a clue as to why you dont see many folks using them. I got one when they first started becoming mainstream. It was neither reliable nor accurate so it went to another experimenter

The Stoner gas system was a revolutionary idea at the time and greatly improved on existing systems. Why would you want to cripple it with an ancient piston system?
