Ar15 magazine in rem 700

Bulletin had this article regarding bottom metal that allows a rem 700 to use ar15 magazines. Does anyone have one of these bottom metal conversions on their rifle ? Has anyone installed one for a customer? Has anyone seen one in the "wild" ?

There is very little info outside of articles saying this bottom metal exists. If anyone has first hand account of these please chime in. Or if one of you can find a report please post a link. Thank you very much for your time. And I apologize in advanced for my poor goole skills if I missed an easy to find review.

Doesn’t Mossberg or someone like that run AR mags in a bolt action. I believe I have seen it somewhere but could be mistaken. You asked about the R700 but this could give you an idea of it.

So your intention is to run .223? Any particular reason for the extra rounds? Or maybe you're thinking a bolt varminter would be a little quieter?

Mossberg did (does??). Has a little "flipper" that drops down from bolthead when bolt is to the rear. Aids in picking up the next participant from the mag.

Unless your going to use a large cartridge like 450 bushmaster or 458 socom use an aics pattern mag
The ar15 has a multi lugged bolt that is designed to reach into both sides of the mag and strip cases
The 700 is a round bolt
A few friends of mine bought the model 7 bottom metal from ptg
Those that used it for 300 blk have had nothing but problems

The plan is to try and use full size ar15 magazines with custom followers to make non traditional cartridges useable.

Think 3d printed adapter that is extrnally an ar15 mag and internally holds a desert eagle magazine, or a lar grizzly mag for 10mm magnum , or a cmmg 5.7 magazine , or whatever. Ar15 mag easy standard measurements then internally the adaptations for whatever magazine you are working with.

I am not fond of the mossberg or ruger american rifles that use ar15 mags. Saw this article and was looking for first hand experience. I am also aware of ptg and their history/reputation of slow delivery.

Thank you for the responses

I have one of ptg's in a 300 Blk rifle. Never worked like it should and I got tired of fooling with it. It has been several years and I dont remember exactly what the problems were.

You can for about $60 use the Mag-pul bottom metal (plastic) ot even comes with one magazine for the Remington 700 and inlet the bottom metal with little effort, as it's already close...to any Rem 700 BDL stock, wood, plastic, etc. with a dremel tool as seen on the internet videos ...223 or 308.
I did mine in 308, works great...positive snap in an drop out release...it's plastic, but it works....just like a Glock...only it's not.

I converted a Boyd's stock to the Magpul bottom metal. I showed it to Boyd's and they now offer the Magpul inlet as an option. They accept the AICS pattern mags which I agree would be the best way to go.

Bought (Bottom metal) a couple of years ago from PTG. Fit and function was perfect. It is a switch barrel Remington 700. Barrels for 243 Winch., 22-250, switch bolt/barrel-then 223. Needed the bottom metal from PTG to feed the 223. Use 5 and 10 round mags for my purposes.
