Is there any one that sells contoured , but not chambered ar15 barrels?
Asking for a friend.
Thank you for your time to respond

You might want to check with X-Caliber, they offer a wide variety of bores, twists, lengths and contours. They seem to be very accommodating.

Or John at White Oak. He cut a couple of specialty chambers for me, so he might be able to fix you up.

AR15/AR10 barrels aren't hard to make in the first place.

I guess I have to ask why before anything thing else? Is there something special about the chamber that he can't get a gunsmith to make a barrel for him? Who's going to set up this chamberless barrel to cut this chamber? If he can cut this special chamber, why can't he contour and thread the whole project?

(1) He wants to experiment with an idea. (2)& (3) And no he can do it himself. (4) He said he would like to see if anyone did this...

Hopefully that answers the questions for you Sir :)

I don't know of anyone or any company that does this as a standard practice. But here are some suggestions for you to contact and ask about the idea:

Recommendations from Bartlein Barrels:

For AR15 (.223 caliber barrels) Compass Lake Engineering 850-579-1208

For AR10 barrels or AR15 barrels that are not in .223 caliber or non standard .223rem./5.56mm AR15 barrels call Paul Craddock at Craddock Precision at 309-365-2234.

The complication comes when threading for the extension, you are essentially setting the headspace with the bolt which has been measured ahead of time. Then the chamber gets cut to match that headspace dimension.

Call some of the above and discuss the process with them.

Enjoy the process!:D

Krieger will sell an unchambered barrel. Go to their site and click on go custom. I had an AR barrel custom chambered once. I am not sure I would go that route again.
