AR Barrel Cleaning with Iosso/JB?

This new borescope may be the death of me......but my AR barrel looks like it needs a good de-carbonizing. When a bolt rifle looks like this, I generally break out the Iosso or JB. My concern is that this stuff would get into the gas port and eventually blow back into the action. Reasonable concern? How do you do it? Thanks much!

The others have the right idea. Either flush it after... or leave it... it'll blow itself out.

If you're really paranoid, pull the gas block and scrub it.

I am paranoid about abrasives. But I can't find anything else that will get the baked on charcoal.

Do you concern yourself with cleaning out the gas port/tube?
Nope. I don’t load up the swab of JB enough to worry me about packing up the gas port. First shot of 50,000 psi at the temperatures coming through there takes care of any residue. Never see any thing on the bolt after JB. I use 8208 and the bolt is very clean.

Edit to add … I use the MiL spec white jizz lube on the BCG and nitride bolt. Not much sticks to that. Better than Moblil 1 synthetic ( which is real good at preventing carbon build up on the bolt tail too. )

I shoot 2000-3000 rounds a year so it gets a work out.

Barrels are wear items; ARs just ensure that statement remains true. I guess the winner is the person who leaves their kids a bunch of worn out rifles, split neck brass and the last bullet shot with the last powder using the last primer into the last target for which all the shot cover-up tape falls off?

If the little red plastic tube from your brake cleaner comes off and goes down the gas tube, plug the chance with a paper towel and blow compressed air in the muzzle. Also it's a good time to spray the cloverleaf with brake cleaner too.
