AR and Suppressor

Installing muzzle brakes, and suppressors, has increased the accuracy in all 5 of the rifles that I have added them to. And these 5 in particular, were all shooters beforehand.:)

I use a dab of copper anti-seize on all threads. A dab...

+1 for my rifles as well. All with suppressors added have stayed the same or improved in the accuracy department. :D:D

You basically have a big tuner on the end of the barrel. You need to adjust the tuner. Try adding 0.001 inch shims one at a time and reshoot. Each 1 thou move will be lime a notch on the tuner. Read the instructions from one of the barrel tuners. You load should come back with less than 8 shims.

This assumes you have adjusted the gas block already. The gas block controls the bcg mass which act like an axial mass tuner.

The videos show that all barrel threads are not equal. That could be the issue as well.

Did you read much of this, op said his smith timed the brake on the gun. Not sure how shims will do much, He doesn't have can yet.

I have shot the AR with the suppressor on it one time. I did not notice how the groups were like. I paid attention to how the rifle shot with the suppressor. The AR seemed to perform very well, no hiccups. I have been looking around at adjustable gas blocks and seen different charging handles (does that work?). Should I just go straight to the adjustable gas block.
I am assuming that I will have to have a different load whenever I use the suppressor or just when I use the muzzle break?
I have it set up for the Thunderbeast Ultra 9 suppressor.

I'm not sure about your reference to different charging handles?

If everything is working perfect with your current gas block, not sure if you have to change. I needed to change my gas block, and both my buffer and buffer spring. Now, everything runs flawless.

I've never had to change a load after installing a brake or a can. On both my bolt action rifles, an my AR's, loads were initially built with straight barrels. Then brakes and cans were added later. Groups were tighter with all. But that doesn't necessarily mean the added devices increased accuracy. The fact that they reduce recoil considerably, and make the rifles easier to shoot and control, could be the reason for increased accuracy.

That Tbac ultra is is not going to affect much, I've yet to see a load fall apart from a brake to a can.
Also, because of baffle design, shimming the tbac I doubt will yield much.

My Colt 6940 would gain up to 110 fps when I installed my AAC M4-2000 suppressor with the factory barrel. I replaced the barrel with a Krieger of the same length and now see very little change in velocity.
