AR-57 (5.7x28mm) 24" barrel search

Anyone out there upgraded an AR-57 with a match grade barrel, if so where did you find the barrel, I seem to be striking out on the search. Its a great varmit round and fairly accurate with the 16" but i am looking for more precision like my .223.

That is hands down the weirdest varmint rifle ever. But I can see it being nice as you can catch all your brass real easy. But it isn't all that potent and going to a longer barrel, well you can't put much powder in there anyway. So why?

im not sure you would really gain much out of a longer barrel. match grade, very accurate barrels can be had in short lengths. 24" might be overkill for the 5.7. i think your stuck to trying to find someone to make a custom barrel for you. its gonna probably be expensive though. not many out there really doing a hole lot with the 5.7 in rifles. if i had my business up and going, id try and work with ya, but im about 1 year out. hope you can find something. maybe drop shillen an email? or find some other custom barrel makers out there that make ar-15 barrels. good luck, and let us kow what you find...

The 5.7 is a 223 bullet just a very very light weight bullet traveling at high speed.

Hey guys, i did talk to Schillen by phone, they are about 6 months backlogged with the upcoming election blitz. I will keep poking around, the 5-7 is good to about 200 yards before a significant drop and is a nasty damage round once it hits something, i don't plan on trying to reach the moon with it, but want to be able to be very confident in what i am shooting at like i am with my 223 or 308 as they are both tack drivers. just trying to get a bit more out of a small center fire round. it is pretty consistent at 100 yds now with a 16" barrel. Thanks for the info.
