AR 15 Side Charging Handle Conversion

Hi Guys (and ladies),

I need to convert my AR upper to a side charging handle in order to accommodate a fully adjustable buttstock from WOA. Does any one know of a Gunsmith in Texas who is performing this kind of work. WOA has a 12 week backlog. I'd sure hate to be out of competition for the major part of the High Power Rifle season. Thanks!

Take a look at Gibbz Arms non-reciprocating side charger upper receiver. They are quite nice and their non-reciprocating featire makes them very nice to shoot. No charging handle flying back & forth.

Do I have it right that Gibbz uppers are left side charging? If so, doesn't work when the support hand is in the sling.

Yes there opposite your shooting hand. I’ve got a couple of there left hand uppers.

Yea good luck with Gibbz....I have three of their uppers and while they are nice the customer service sucks/non existent at this time. I contacted them about a year ago to get a few parts. The sent me the wrong ones and when I got ahold of them to exchange the just said mail them back and we will send the right ones. That’s been 8 months ago and I am still out over 100$ in parts. I left numerous voicemails with no response. Now their phone doesn’t even accept messages and I have sent an email a week for the last couple months and haven’t heard a peep. Good products but sh#t service in my book.

Yes there customer service is a big joke. I had problems with them a year ago. it took me about 6 months to get a replacement upper that was out of spec.

Well I’m glad it’s not just me. It’s super frustrating even though it’s just some parts...I don’t get to the Phoenix area but a few times a year but if I have more that a quick overnight the next time you can bet I will be knocking on their door! I understand a little delay...especially with the current environment but complete silence is unacceptable.
