I have a question for those of you who serve or have served in the US Military or LE that have had training on this weapons platform. Is the removal of the extractor and/or recoil spring assembly considered within the ability of your average grunt during routine cleaning/field maintenance? To clarify, this is not what you consider within your ability but what The Company deems is not necessarily work to be performed only by a qualified armourer.

The only part we were told not to mess with was the trigger components in the lower receiver. We always disassembled the bolt and removed the buffer spring for cleaning.
In basic training they handed out a field strip mat that we put all the parts on while we broke the rifles down the first couple of times in the barracks. It looked a lot like this one:
