AR-15 .223 7 twist loads?

Hi Everyone-- I'm just wondering what your accuracy loads are for an A5-15 with 7 twist barrel ? 100 to 600 if you need a range. My barrel is a WOA 18" spr type/weight. Thanks Hoz

I've had fine success with 24.5 grains of Varget, pushing 69/77/80 grain MatchKings.

When I shot High Power, I used different loads at 200/300 than at 600 yards. Now that I just shoot groundhogs, simpler is often easier. Besides, I shoot a whole lot more groundhogs in the 300-ish yard range than out at 600-ish yards, simply due to the fields around here.

RL-15 works well too, but I have a solid stock of Varget, and am going to use that till it's gone.

Hope that helps!

I'm with Cold Bore. I use 25 grs. of Varget with 69 gr smk's out of a 20in barrel.

Personally, I've had poor results using different loads of Varget shooting 69 SMK's out of a 22" JP Supermatch barrel (1:8). Just goes to show you how some barrels like different powders.

Thanks Coldbore-- I've got some Varget and some 69 and 77 smk's so I will try them. Also most of my shooting will prob be 300 yd and under. Dont have any RL-15 but if I can find some I'll try it to. Hoz

Very True-- I know every barrel is an individual. Just trying to get an idea to point me in the general direction, but if those dont work will definately look elsewhere. Thanks Hoz

RL15, Varget, 8208, 322, 335, BL-C(2) any of these will work, get your velocity right around 2700fps and you should be ok.

BL-C(2), TAC and RL15 with SMK 77 and 80gr., I am also trimming my cases back to .50, I lose a lil bit at the chrono... I have been using L.C. and Federal brass until recently, I was given a a large quality of PMC brass, and my chamber seems to love it over the other 2, loaded to mag length...

I also have a WOA 1-7, SPR, 18" that I use for 3gun. it does quite well with most everything, but the current darling for 4-600y steel is a 73G Berger, and 24g TAC.

I use 77 grain bergers with LC brass, wolf srm primers, and aa 2520 powder. 18" CLE barrel (douglas) 1-7" twist. have shot out to 891 yards with it

80 SMKs can be tricky at magazine length. They really like to be longer. I'd go with 69 or 77 grain SMKs at magazine length. Varget is my favorite powder throughout that weight range.
