Approx. Case Weight for

I'm just trying to get an approximate case weight for 30-06 Lapua Brass to see where it fits
in with other 30-06 brass I've tried. I will be annealing then necking it down to 6.5-06 and turning necks down to .0014. The main reason I'm going to Lapua is to hopefully shrink groups a little but more so to get my ES and SD down more. The rifle is doing pretty well now but figure what the heck I'll give it a shot.

You might find the graph and/or line equation for fire-formed Lapua .30-06 brass below useful. The case and water weight values are shown in grams, but can easily be converted to grains (divide gram weights by .06479891 to yield grains). The average case weight was 191.67 gr, and the average water volume was 69.89 gr.

Thank you! That will help as I can measure H2O cap on some of my 30/06 cases that I haven't converted to 6.5-06 yet for comparison. All my h2o caps right now are for fireformed 6.5-06.

For the heck of it, I will weigh some Norma -06 brass. Not what you are looking for, but it will give some perspective.
Thanks I have weights on Hornady 270 and 30-06, Winchester 270 and 30-06, Remington 270 and 30-06, and Federal 270 though I haven't used the Federal in any loads because usually Federal primer pockets don't hold up for me. Interestingly the Hornady brass is the lightest and has 1.5+ grains more H2O capacity. Remington and Federal are the heaviest and have slightly less H2O capacity than Winchester. I can use .2-.4 grains less H4831sc in Remington cases vs Winchester cases for the same velocity.

Weight of once fired Norma brass w spent primer. Pretty well cleaned, so should not have any excess debris. 183.6, 184.7, 185.1, 185.2. not set up for h2o

That being with the primer puts them very close to Hornady case weight. I appreciate the information and your efforts. Looks like Lapua is going to land right in the ballpark or just shy of my Remington 270 and 30-06 brass. Capacity of each shouldn't be very far apart.
