Why not keep it simple and effective and choose a standard caliber?

If deer hunting and an occasional predator hunt is your game, I can't think of a better choice than the old 243 Win. Rifles - the absolutely near perfect Tikka T3X lite. You don't need a semi-auto for deer hunting.

The 243 Win is a true multi-purpose caliber. The one qualifier I must add is that I've never shot a deer beyond 200 yards with it, most being under 150 yards due to the terrain where I hunt.

I've been shooting the 243 Win since the late 60's and have taken deer, varmints and predators with it. It has never let me down if I do my part. With deer hunting like all hunting, it's all about shot placement and having the proper bullet with enough energy to make a humane kill.

When I bought my suppressor I focused on the suppressor as I should have. But I did not know that it is also important to consider the mounting system for the suppressor. I bought a Silencerco Hybrid 46 and I think it's quiet. On an AR with a 16" barrel, it makes it a 23" barrel. It's long and unwieldy in a tree stand.

But back to the mounting system. I though I could live with direct thread, then I started switching it around on a number of rifles and direct thread is not too handy when switching a lot. I went to Silencerco's ASR mount. With experience, I can say do not go with the ASR, it's not secure. They fail unless you re-tension the mount's springs from time to time.

The industry is moving towards quick attach mounts that will work with multiple brands of suppressors. But a mounting system can cost 100's of dollars if you outfit multiple rifles. Bottom line is this, I would put just a much time in selecting a mounting system as I did in selecting a suppressor.

Last - suppressors are addictive. Buy all you can the first go around. I thought one would satisfy me. Now I have 3 and waiting on ATF approval.

Ah, ok, this I've been researching. Yep, this is a non-trivial issue and I've spent a couple hours on this and will spend much more. Direct thread or adaptor, seems an important question. The suppressor rabbit hole seems to be deep with lots of alternate routes. Thanks for the comment -

Yes, maybe better to maximize suppresser purchases and leave other items for for later. Crossing my mind when going through all the paperwork to at least get two. Maybe a do-it-all .30 cal and then something for 9MM? What three are you waiting on?

Thanks for the reply - yep, I've ordered two different highly rated versions from Amazon and they seem to be well made but seem to always interfere with something or other or can't see around them. Thanks for the comment, I'll keep working on it

I think mine is a Caldwell, there's a mount attached to the rail and one on the bag. They're adjustable, I don't even know mine is there.

As for the can, to define best, you need to elaborate on the factors which define "best" for you. Hunting focused -- is length and weight more important than dB sound suppression? It would be to me, non suppressor will make a supersonic round quiet but it will reduce the degree of hearing protection needed so I'd go for light/short at the expense of some dB.

I've got a Chimera in jail as my 30cal can, because I wanted an all-around 30cal that could handle short barrels on some rounds (my son's deer gun is a Grendel pistol built around using a suppressor).

As for getting one for next hunting season, you've likely already missed the boat on that. I submitted a paper Form 4 for a Bushwacker 46 late January 2022 and get it mid-December 2022; the paper forms seem to be accelerating a bit as they work through them with people transitioning to e-file. However as people transition to e-file those seem to be slowing down. People getting them now submitted in March 2022. So they are already at 10 months and the timelines still seem to be slowing down. Probably because more people bought thinking the process had gotten faster.

Ruger predator American, 6.5 Grendel, TBAC ultra 7 can, 30 cal direct thread.
That will take care of your requirements, unless you have to have it in a ar15 frame.
I assembled a 6.5grendel. Ar15, 20" bbl, but sold it after I got the Ruger.
No issues coyote to deer from 100 to 600 yards.
I did stick it in a Heatseeker chassis though.
I have bushnell nitros and engage scopes, nice scopes IMO.
