Aperture sights for Winchester Palma/Ultramatch?

Winchester built Ultramatch Mod. 70s for the Palma internationals held here in the U.S. in 1968,
71 and 76.

Does anyone know with a high degree of certainty what sights were on those guns?
Part or model numbers?
Others that might work on one with the original mounting plate and front sight block?
Would rimfire versions be suitable substitutes?

I'm in the process of getting one of the 1976 guns from a memeber here, but there are no sights with gun and I'd like to get it back to original condition if at all possible.


Tangentially, what are people using now on Palma guns? seems most of the manufacturers have gone under or stopped making high end micrometer style sights.

There are a couple good rear sights being made, but there aren't many. Centra makes a pretty good one and there is the mudcat sight.

For rear sights… Warner or @Mudcat

For front sights a mix of 22mm and 30mm. Doug Beach is making housings for both and Chad Bakke has started making housings too. These use a band that clamps to a tenon cut on barrel. 30 mm components are much more difficult to source than 22 mm though. If you have a sight block at muzzle then a smallbore 22 mm clamp on housing but this moves the entire elevation from 100 - 1000 to the rear sight.

If you can't find the original sights, Centra still make their long range sight with whatever mounting you want.
Front sights try looking at John Cooper from Australia - Cooper Presssion Optics, makes to order and has both fixed and ladder sights upto 30mm.
Run both on my Palma rifle and find them very good and consistent, the advantage of the Cooper is you can also get it in 25mm diameter which gives some light around the front tunnel unlike the 30mm versions.
