Anyone with 7-30 Waters experience?

I'm looking for anyone's pet loads for the 7-30 Waters in a 14" Contender, hunting as well as varmint. My favorite powder, RL12 was dropped and struggling to insert a suitable replacement. I've been using mostly 140gr bullets as well as the 130grSSP bullet. Any help ?? Thnx.

AA-2460 was the best powder for my 7-30 Waters, and still was when it was rechambered to a 7x30 JDJ...
I used the 139 Hornady SP for deer hunting when I used it.....
33.5 is a good place to start with that bullet...
H-4895 is also a good powder for it....

I shoot 33.5 gr of H335 with Federal match primers and 120 gr bullet. 100 yards is normally around 1/2" group for 3 shots. Killed only 1 deer with it, but it worked fine out of my 14" Contender.

Thanks folks...I'll try some of these. I'll gravitate to whatever gives best casefill / accuracy as I feel that is always beneficial. I have always loaded 140gr Nosler Ballistic Tips as they are reputed to be soft enough to work well as a hunting bullet at the reduced velocities of handguns. I never stumbled onto a load that worked accurately for me in the 120gr SSP bullets and gave up on them decades ago. The 130SSP shoot well. Maybe I'll have to give the 120's a try again since there are better choices nowadays and the gain in velocity would be a plus. Thanks gang.
