Anyone using the Vortex Razor HD III for long range competitions?

For 1000 yd and 600 yd F-Open shooting i use a March High Master but a Sightron 10-50x60 works real well
too and they are all Second Focal Plane.
If you want a Vortex folks use the Golden Eagle a lot.

Mr. Wick has mentioned in a previous thread of his that he is contemplating shooting 600-1000 yard Benchrest. If it was me and I was seriously thinking of going into that discipline, I'd look at what scopes they are using. I shoot 600-1000 yard f class. My scope which does double duty on 2 rifles is a Vortex Golden Eagle. I had two N.F. BR scopes and they were definitely good, but I like my VGE. Some may think I traded down, but with Optics in hand I did a side by side comparison and I'm completely satisfied with my decision.

There are plenty of newer model scopes on the market today that I'm sure are better than what I use. I'll admit prices keep me in my lane. If price isn't an issue here, get the best or one of the best. I would ask myself, what is so and so using. Top competitors have it going on. I'm a little surprised that this thread is 48 hours old and a serious Benchrest competitor hasn't replied.

Most 600/1000 yard guys are using NF Comp and BR, Golden Eagle, SI 3, and March.
I use 2 NF Comp's with a Golden Eagle in the safe for backup.
What you were thinking of using is a good PRS type scope but not the best ticket for LR BR

In short, no, it's not worth it. Don't get me wrong, Vortex makes some fine scopes and the Razor is one of them. But the Razor III is not a good choice for a BR or F-Class application. The Razor III only goes to 36X, more would be better. It has 1/4 MOA turrets, 1/8th MOA would be better. It's an FFP scope, SFP would be better. It weighs 45.1 oz, less would be better. I could go on, but you get the idea. The Razor is simply not well-suited for an application like BR or F-Class and there are much better options for less money.
