Bought a barrel from a fellow on this forum. It's rather heavy with BOSS in 7MM Mag for my Model 70 that was 375. Shot it today and it's MOA and better with an old Leupold 5X scope.
Now I need to get a scope and mounts for it to test and use as a long-range deer hunter. Can't get interested in those Jap things from Weaver and Bushnell. Would like another Nightforce but the field of view on the 5.5 - 22 is way too small for close shots. Not crazy about that 3.5 - 15X. Use a Fullfield 4,5 - 14 on one of 257's. It's OK. Want better. Leupold VX-6 in 3 - 18 is NOT out yet. Price is attractive on a Burris Black Diamond 4-16 and specs look good.
Do not need adjustments. It's gonna be a hunter. Want little flare, good field of view, eye relief, easy parallax adjustment, bright, ability to hold adjustment (no posi-lock...I struggle with one already) and a reticle with drop marks like mil-dot or ballistic plex. I'm a fan of American products also.
All my Burris scopes have been good and I use many. In this power range and model does anyone have any firsthand experience?
