Anyone tried the 70gr Nosler RDF?

Anyone had a chance to try the new 70gr 22cal Nosler RDF? I want to try them in my AR (rainier arms, rock creek 16" rifle glass barrel) to see how they shoot. Just curious if anyone has worked up a load for the rdf and if so what worked for you? I'm hoping to use CFE 223. Thanks!

I would expect them to work the same as berger 70 vld. Both are a bit more jump sensitive than a Sierra 69, or equivalent.

Hmmm . . . Not to hijack the thread, but RL-26 in a .22-.250 AI is intriguing. Care to share any observations on your load development?

That RDF at 3,400 should make range estimation a little less worrisome!

It seems to work very well in this cartridge with heavy bullets. I worked all the way up to 46 grains were there seemed to be a node at 3685 FPS, but there was slightly stiff bolt lift and that was at 40 degrees F. 3400 fps should to be plenty.

I purchased some of the blems to play with, figured if they don't shoot then I can use them in 3 gun.

AR-15: 18" 1:7 White Oak barrel, first two five shot groups with 8208/LC brass were .7's. This is about average for this gun on a good day so for blems, loaded to 2.260 (AR mag length), I was pretty happy, and more than enough to ring 10" steel at 400.

Rem 700: 22" 1:7 Wilson, 8208,2.330 OAL, two five shot groups averaged .55", and my friend shot the same load in his cheap Rem 783 with 1:9 twist, and was about the same.

I thought that was a solid start, especially for some blems and zero load development.

Looking forward to testing these in 22 Nosler. I'd also love to hear what seating depth seems to work best.

My AR didn't like them. I ended up selling the rest of mine to a buddy that has a 223 savage bolt action and they shoot extremely well for him. Based on what I've read on other forums, few have good results with these in ARs unless they are single loading them. I've heard the 73gr elds are getting good results in ARs. I might try those next after I digest all my 69s.
