Being new to rimfire ammo l noticed its now offered with poly coated or powder coated bullets. ls it as clean burning as advertised. l'm familiar with PC bullets used in centerfire handgun calibers. ln handguns the barrel is much cleaner. Accuracy seems about the same as cast or Jacketed bullets.

I'm not seeing how coating a bullet would change the burning characteristics of the powder.

I would think it's to stop leading but not as harmful as copper jackets ...
Not for the paper competition imo.
I know several that shoot copper jackets at silhouettes in prs and the likes.

I think you guys might be MISSING THE POINT.If you get the poly coated or Powder coated bullets they will be $1.00 to $2. 00 more a box But-you get to shoot the latest and greatest 22 's.. May well not be the best groups but sure enough it will give you something to talk about.
Just me thinkin

Let me share my personal experience with PC boolits. l'm a former boolit caster before switching to 22rf. PC cast boolits are faster than Jktd or Cast/Lubed boolits due to less friction with the same powder charges. Much cleaner shooting too.

I have only seen it used on low-cost plinking rounds from CCI. All high-end ammo uses beeswax as the main lubricant. There is probably a reason for that.

ARA 2022 rules section 6 ammunition
6.1. Any brand of factory loaded .22 caliber Long Rifle ammunition may be used. It must be available over the counter for sale to any individual and consist of the original, unaltered factory cartridge case, powder, and projectile.

6.2. gives additional information, mostly pertaining to the modifying of factory ammo and hand loads.

PSL and IR50/50 have similar rules. PC ammo if factory produced, available to anyone, and not modified would be legal.

As far as wax lubricate, Lapua does not use wax. It uses petroleum distillate as the bullet lube and currently leads the pack in Big Time RFBR competition. Eley uses beeswax/tallow in it's upper tier ammo. Not sure what RWS uses. Lot of misinformation in this thread.
