Anyone shooting Sierra's 60 tmk in your 223

I don't have a comparison to the 69 gr TMK's, but I've found them to be very accurate out of an AR. For me 'accurate' means 1/2 MOA groups with a sling in prone.
I would mention that the BC for the 69 TMK's is significantly more than the 60's.

I bought a pile of Sierra 60 grain TMK's a couple years ago. I am hesitant to write this but.... The only barrel i have tried them in, is a barrel that i have yet to get anything to shoot good in. Needles to say, nothing shoots good in that barrel.

Some observations:

Its a long bullet, almost as long as the 69 grain non tipped version.

If one could use a non bulky powder, where you could get enough in for high velocity, it would fly fast & flat the first few hundred yards

I heard a rumor they where designed for a failed military contract someplace?

Not sure what type of ogive they have, or if they are sensitive to seating depth.

Sierra says to load them to 2.270 in the new manual.

I think the bullet is really cool for carbine length barrels, because one could keep a decent trajectory with the lower velocities of the shorter barrel.

I am shooting them at 3350 fps in a 9T Shilen, Rem 700, 26", 22//204 Ruger with .020 freebore, JGS reamer. Tiny groups in the 2's with CFE gives the fastest velocity in Win brass.

With my short throat, I was having trouble with the 69 TMK or ran out of bullets before the load was developed....rare thing... needed to try another powder.

I grabbed 300 a while back for our 100 meter weekly matches. The were loaded in my 223AI with a good amount of AA2460, they topped 3300fps out of a 1:8 30” barrel. Very accurate, I just punch paper, but they would probably be very useful for varmints.

I prefer the 69s to the 60 TMK. MY 1-9 Rem will shoot the 69s with any powder but it took awhile to find the sweet spot with the 60s. This surprised me, as I anticipated a 1-9 liking the 60s better.
